“They’re sort of a gullible bunch." A rare leak out of Anthropic shows how CEO Dario Amodei really feels about OpenAI.

Anthropic’s culture is unique for many reasons. One of them is that CEO Dario Amodei frequently writes long missives to employees that almost never leak.

I can actually only find two instances where they have: a note he wrote last summer about courting investors in the Middle East, and today’s leak of what he told employees last Friday about the company’s drama with the Pentagon.

The Information has the full essay, which is worth a read. What stands out to me, aside from the more granular detail on why Amodei thinks he couldn’t reach a deal with the Department of War, is the clear, abject disdain he has for Sam Altman.
