It’s Monday, Jan 12th. I’m headed to Paris before Davos next week, and I'll have some free time in the city on Thursday and Friday. Please send recommendations and let me know if there are any interesting French tech companies I should meet with.

3 things you should know:

  1. Anthropic built Claude Cowork in the last week and a half, and it was entirely written by Claude Code.

  2. Polymarket correctly called 26 of the 28 Golden Globe winners.

  3. The five top Facebook posts in December were AI-generated.

Nice chatbot you have there

Google and Apple finally announced their joint partnership to bring Gemini models to Apple Intelligence. There has been a lot of misinterpretation of this news on social media. It doesn’t mean the Gemini assistant will appear in Siri or Apple’s operating systems like ChatGPT. For now, the average user of Siri and Apple Intelligence will have no idea that Gemini is actually powering much of the experience in the background.

Instead, as the press release says, Apple’s models “will be based on Google’s Gemini models and cloud technology” and help power a “more personalized Siri coming this year.” While this partnership between the two tech giants is significant, it’s not as deep as Google would like.
